Start with the ingredients

What cooking can teach a product about its starting point.

Change the first question

Many recipe experiences begin with “What do you want to cook?” Hungur begins with “What do you have?” That small change makes the ingredients the starting point for discovery.

Constraints can make discovery useful

Ingredient tags and dietary preferences give a search somewhere to begin. The interesting design question is how to offer possibilities without making someone fill out a long form before seeing anything useful.

Leave room for people

A recipe is also a conversation: substitutions, questions, and the reasons something changed. Hungur explores these ideas through sharing and community features. A useful product should help people contribute as well as browse.

An ongoing experiment

The public prototype is available to explore. The project is a place to work through ingredient discovery, community interactions, and the relationship between web and mobile experiences. It does not establish that commercial reward partnerships exist.
